Surina + Sukhwinder’s East Indian wedding was one of the fanciest extravaganzas I’ve seen! Several days of celebratory festivities with a grand reception as the culminating point of their wedding week.
The Sangeet was held on Thursday at Maharaja Banquet Hall in which the Kurmye and Chuni ceremonies took place. After the Shaugan, both families did the Jagoo and danced until the next day!
On Friday, the bride’s side set up a tented area for their ceremonies involving milk and bracelets. The groom’s side had an Oilers’ theme going on, complete with an ice Sculpture and everyone wearing jerseys.
On Saturday the ceremony was held at Millwoods Gurdwara, with the couple in traditional wedding attire and their bridal party in purple and gold colors. Sukhwinder enters on a stately horse before the Milni ceremony begins! Before photos started, the bridal party quickly stopped for some essential McDonalds 🙂 We went to Jackie Parker Park for some greenery and a cool industrial area nearby for some urban photos.
We headed back to the bride’s parents’ place where she was to leave her house for the last time and there were many tearful goodbyes.
On Sunday, everyone was dressed in modern attire with bright colors! We especially loved Sukh’s jewelled shoes! The couple got ready at the Westin and we headed nearby for some neat downtown shots.
The Edmonton Expo Centre was gorgeously decorated from head to toe in breathtaking floral arrangements with a Parisian theme. The Eiffel tower stature made headlines during the cocktail hour. After a scrumptious dinner and speeches, there was nonstop dancing the entire night!
